Find Cookie

I play a little game with Sophie. I call it: Find cookie! Here's how it works:

1) put her in the bedroom or bathroom and close the door.
2) take out a very crinkly, noisy bag of treats, careful to make extra noise.
3) hide the treat.
4) open the door and give the instruction (as if one were needed!): Find cookie!

Out she runs, hardly waiting for enough clearance from the door. She runs hither and thither and yon. Sometimes she'll go right to it. I mean right to it. Maybe it's her nose, maybe it's luck. Then there are days like today. Around and around the room she runs, so eager that she passes it a dozen times. She settles down, maybe thinking that I'm trying to fool her, then the nose moves in for the kill.
